Who we are

Samantha Simmonds has been a journalist and broadcaster for more than 20 years. She’s currently presenting on BBC World News and the BBC News Channel where she covers national and international events of the day. She also presents Sunday politics on BBC1 and her and Lauren have their own podcast for midlife women, ‘It’s a Grown up Life’.

She presented on Sky News for more than a decade anchoring coverage of some of the biggest stories of recent years including the sudden death of Michael Jackson, the murder of British MP Jo Cox, the EU referendum, the Queen’s 90th birthday and the royal wedding.

Lauren Libbert has been a national newspaper and magazine journalist for over 20 years and currently writes freelance features for the print and online editions of the Daily Telegraph, Guardian, Sun, Daily Mail and Daily Express as well as for a variety of weekly and monthly magazines.

A qualified lawyer, Lauren’s love of writing led to a career swerve in her mid 20s where she cut her journalistic teeth covering real life stories and celebrity news at best selling women’s weeklies Take a Break and Closer before editing New Woman and Top Sante.

Lauren and Samantha have been friends for 23 years – meeting through a newspaper advert Lauren placed at the behest of her parents looking for a round-the-world travelling partner! Their trip to Vietnam, Thailand and Australia back in 1997 sealed their friendship and they have since navigated the challenges of working parenthood and a changing journalistic landscape together, living just 15 minutes apart in NW London.
