Having spent 10 years travelling, volunteering and working in some of the most deprived and corrupt places in the world: Uzbekistan, where she grew up, the Balkans, Ethiopia and Bangladesh, Elena has seen the power of entrepreneurship when fused with education and technology.
On her return to the UK, a single mother of two Elena was shocked at the state of secondary school education across the UK with its “factory” style learning model and was inspired to launch a pioneering educational social impact enterprise, Teens In AI and Acorn Aspirations, providing young people across the globe with opportunities to interact with leading experts in artificial intelligence, virtual, augmented and mixed realities, entrepreneurs, designers and marketers to create solutions that solve real life-world problems.
‘One’s dearest possession is life. It is given to us but once, and we must live it so as to feel no torturing regrets for wasted years, never know the burning shame of a mean and petty past; so live that, dying one might say: all my life, all my strength were given to the finest cause in all the world…’
Nikolai Ostrovsky, author of ‘How The Steel Was Tempered’ has shaped the entrepreneur Elena has become today, in business and in life.
To Elena, this cause is very simple: make a difference in people’s lives.
Acorn Aspirations has big plans and a global vision to connect millions of young people from across the world to opportunities that will accelerate their potential and inspire a generation of diverse technology innovators, change-makers, and compassionate, social impact leaders!
