I have worked at MindforYou, a provider of tailored holidays for people living with dementia and their family carers, for 6 years. I thrive on building relationships and having a deeper understanding of people, taking a lead role in External Communications as well as providing comprehensive emotional support for guests on our supported holidays. I am also a fully qualified Integrative counsellor who found myself being the youngest to qualify at my learning institution. I have massive aspirations for the future and I'm dedicated to my main goal of making counselling accessible for all, especially older adults. I only wish I had the skills I do now, so I could’ve helped when both my Grandparents were diagnosed with dementia. However, this personal connection has only made me even more driven to now help others in a similar position.
My own experience of living with chronic illness has given me an exceptional understanding of and empathy for others living with ‘hidden’ illnesses, including dementia. Empowering people living with ‘hidden’ illnesses has led me to write articles that have been published in National Newspapers such as The Daily Mail.
In my spare time I love meeting new people, and any opportunity where I can share my enthusiasm and experience in mental health. I am also a keen long-distance runner and hope that my commitment to succeed at whatever I do will help me to succeed in running my first half marathon in 2021.
