Julie joined Marie Curie as Executive Director of Nursing, Allied Health Professionals and Quality in 2018, before moving into the role of Chief Nurse; Executive Director of Quality and Caring Services in August 2019. Julie is a Registered Nurse and she holds a BSc in Nursing from Leeds Beckett University, and a MSc in Nursing from the University of Manchester.
During her career in the NHS Julie worked in a number of teaching hospitals in Leeds, London, Birmingham, Cardiff, and Southampton. Julie specialised in intensive and critical care nursing and combined a clinical and teaching role for many years. Julie gained experience in the development of national policy through a role as nursing advisor for acute and specialist services at the Department of Health, England.
Julie has held two previous roles as Executive Director of Nursing and Quality at East Kent Hospitals University Foundation Trust, and Chief Nurse in the Strategic Health Authority in Hampshire. Julie held two Executive Director roles as Chief Operating Officer, in East Kent Hospitals and at Dorset County Hospital before joining Marie Curie.
Julie is passionate about person-centred care and development of the workforce.
