Kate is an experienced corporate finance lawyer with broad ranging experience. She has advised clients on everything from basic company secretarial matters to large multi-jurisdiction IPOs.
Kate began her career in the private equity field and then moved to a more general corporate practice within a top City law firm. Kate worked as an inhouse counsel at an American investment bank.
Kate took a career break and relocated to the South Coast, unsure how she could combine starting a family with the long hours required of a lawyer. She retrained as a pilates teacher thanks to her love of dance and movement as a child but became a stay at home mum when her daughter arrived in 2011.
Craving mental stimulation, she returned to work and started the juggle of being a parent and managing a career. Luckily, the legal profession had changed and the role of consultant meant she could work from home and more flexibly.
Realising the depth and potential of this model for lawyers and clients, she founded illume legal with Michelle Harris in 2017. Together they hoped to build a law firm where lawyers could find balance or return to work after a period of leave.
illume is now 26 lawyers strong and continues to offer clients access to excellent, senior lawyers in a streamlined manner. illume offers the consultants a new way of working.
Kate was awarded “Best Corporate Finance Lawyer (England)” in the Corp Today 2021 Global Business Awards and “2019 Best Corporate Finance Lawyer (England)” by the Acquisition International Legal Awards.
illume is 5 years old.
