Having suffered with chronic fatigue syndrome as a young adult, followed by having children with various sleep issues, Maryanne understands first-hand how a lack of sleep can impact on daily life, health and wellbeing. She developed a keen interest, initially in children’s sleep, and became certified as a Gentle Sleep Coach in 2009, followed by advanced training with the International Parenting & Health Institute. After completing her training, she set up Child Sleep Works in 2010. She spent many years helping and supporting families with their children’s sleep, as well as giving talks and workshops on all aspects of sleep for children of all ages. She also participated in several TV programmes and had a regular slot on national radio. Maryanne’s interest in sleep developed further, and due to her extensive work with parents, and being asked on many occasions, she decided to expand her work in 2015 to both adolescent and adult sleep. Maryanne completed a comprehensive Integrative Adult Sleep Coach Certification programme, followed by CBT for Insomnia (CBTI) training through the NHS, after which she re-branded her business to become The Sleep Works, incorporating both child and adult sleep services. She now sees adolescent and adult clients on a one-to-one basis, developing personalised sleep programmes, runs insomnia groups, and delivers many webinars and sessions for schools, organisations and corporate clients about all aspects of sleep. She is a member of the British Sleep Society and the International Association for Sleep Consultants.
