Shahana is the Founder and Director of TPC therapy Ltd. A mental health service for children and young people. Managing a large team of play therapists who work with vulnerable children in schools, adoption, fostering, and with the homicide teams across the UK. She is also the founder of the Therapeutic Teaching Approach through which she works with schools across England to put children's wellbeing at the core of education. Her popular Therapeutic Teaching Course is inspiring and empowering schools to make impactful differences. She is pioneering a vision for all schools to become therapeutic schools and has a Therapeutic Schools Award Programme. Her unique approach is making a significant impact and has been recognised by BBC Newsround and BBC Teach who have both done features in which she has appeared. Shahana has also written for the BBC. She is a finalist in the upcoming Ladies first awards 2020, in both categories ‘Inspirational Women’ and ‘Business Entrepreneur’. She writes a regular segment in Head Teachers Update, the national magazine for primary schools, sharing therapeutic teaching ideas and techniques. She is also governor of a primary school, sits on two foster care panels and runs a weekly podcast called the Therapeutic Teaching Podcast. Shahana and her digital team create bespoke online training and resource platforms for care agencies or any relevant agency. Each one is unique to the agency they are building it for and is full of cpd approved training on childhood trauma and also incudes mini videos, resources, and support created specifically for that agency. This is an innovative way to approach training and support giving people specialist, trauma-informed resources when they need it most. Shahana's own experiences of childhood trauma informs her work, offering a unique perspective based on empathy, understanding, and raw truth that cannot be found in textbooks only.
