I am a disability speaker, advocate, writer and designer.
My first book, The Little Book of Ableism, gives insight in to the language that hurts the disabled community and why as well as offering replacements or explanations. As we begin the coverage for the Paralympics I have already witnessed multiple 'fails' in tone and context in the media and I am happy to explain what the problems are and how we can improve allyship to the 15%.
I studied fashion design graduating in 2008. I have spent 12.5 years working as a garment technologist for fashion suppliers, high street and high end brands- I have been freelance for 3.5 years. I have multiple gastrointestinal issues that made me go freelance- and founded my adaptive clothing range for people with Disabilities, Unhidden.
I am also co founder of No Comment Required, an ethical slogan clothing company. Everything I do is person first, profit second. As well as sustainable and ethical.
I talk about ableism and accessibility and how to be an ally to the disabled community as well as being a disabled entrepreneur and the challenges that presents.
